BIOMETRICS

From the ancient Greeks meaning “life measure”, biometrics is the science of recognising individual human beings from unique and verifiable characteristics.

The most obvious and well known element is fingerprints which as everyone knows are unique to each person, and while we can offer fingerprint readers in our systems there is often a reluctance within workforces to offer their fingerprints for such analysis and a reluctance from employers to record and save such information with regards to the Data Protection Act.

Our two biometric products do not record any such sensitive personal data, one simply creates a digital map of a hand, the other makes a sound recording of a signature, the information being stored digitally in the terminal and inaccessible to any outside party - and even if it could be accessed it would not identify or link the data to any named individual person.

In particular the Sign Assured signature recognition terminal is especially suited to access control and fire roll call environments, the signature is not visible to another party whilst someone is “signing in” and no trace of it is left behind and despite exhaustive trials of our own we have been unable to forge a signature to fool the terminal - even with a copy in front of us !

An ingenious add-on to the signature recorder enables a user to dial up the terminal from a mobile phone and take a roll call remotely - invaluable during an evacuation when you don’t want to wait for a printout inside the building.

Signature recognition

We recognise that making the transition from “no time recording” or “clock card” time recording to a biometric system can be a huge chasm to leap !

But we can make it easy to sell the idea to your staff by simply offering a free two week trial of either a Handscanner or Signature Recognition device - or both !
